Organic Standards

4Life works closely with the farmers that supply the bovine colostrum and eggs to ensure the best growing environment possible for the animals, which are all located in BSE free areas in the U.S. Unfortunately, 4Life cannot control the actions of neighboring ranchers or farmers which leaves the possibility that some of the animals, particularly cattle, may be exposed to pesticides or other chemicals which may drift in the wind. Due to this situation and the processing described below we have not felt it necessary to obtain organic certificates for the cattle that provide 4Life’s transfer factors, though 4Life does follow organic standards as closely as possible. Furthermore, 4Life is in the process of obtaining organic certification for the chickens that produce the eggs.
As pesticides, hormones, and most antibiotics tend to deposit in the fatty tissues, animals and humans are afforded an additional level of protection. Colostrum is typically low in fat, in essence providing an initial biological filtration. In any case, the first step in processing the bovine colostrum is to remove the fat, which also removes over 99% of the compounds of concern in organic certification. As the egg yolks and fat-reduced colostrum proceed through the rest of the microfiltration process even more of the potentially offensive compounds are removed. The finished product is high in transfer factors and very low in most other compounds, particularly those of concern in organic farming.
